East African Countries Quiz

East Africa encompasses the countries of the African Great Lakes region and the Horn of Africa. The Great Lakes countries include Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, and portions of the Democratic Republic of Congo. The Horn of Africa includes Ethiopia, Eritrea, Djibouti, and Somalia. The region also includes the island nations of Comoros, Mauritius, Seychelles, and Madagascar (often grouped with East Africa geographically).

East Africa contains some of Africa's most iconic natural features: Mount Kilimanjaro (5,895m), the world's largest freestanding mountain; the Serengeti Plains and the annual Great Migration of wildebeest; Lake Victoria, Africa's largest lake and the source of the Nile; the Ngorongoro Crater; and the dramatic escarpments of the Great Rift Valley.
