Can you name the books of the Bible? Test your knowledge of both Old and New Testament books.
The Bible is an anthology of 66 books (Protestant canon) or 73 books (Catholic canon), written across more than a millennium by dozens of authors. These books span multiple genres: history, poetry, prophecy, law, gospel accounts, letters, and apocalyptic literature. Knowing the books of the Bible and their order is fundamental to biblical literacy and is often tested in Sunday school, confirmation classes, and religious education programs.
The Old Testament opens with the Pentateuch (Genesis through Deuteronomy), sometimes called the Books of Moses or the Torah. It continues with historical books like Joshua, Judges, and Kings, then moves to wisdom literature (Psalms, Proverbs, Job) and the prophetic books (Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, and the 12 minor prophets). The New Testament begins with the four Gospels, followed by Acts of the Apostles, the Epistles (letters) of Paul and other apostles, and closes with Revelation.
