Test your Marvel Comics and MCU knowledge! Heroes, villains, storylines, and the Marvel universe.
Marvel Comics was founded in 1939 (originally as Timely Comics) and has created some of the most beloved superhero characters in history, including Spider-Man, Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, the Hulk, the X-Men, Black Panther, and many others. The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), launched with 'Iron Man' in 2008, became the highest-grossing film franchise in history, surpassing $29 billion at the box office through 2023. The MCU changed Hollywood by pioneering the interconnected franchise model where individual films build toward massive crossover events.
Marvel's fictional universe is extraordinarily complex, spanning thousands of comics issues dating back to the 1960s. The main Marvel Comics continuity is called Earth-616. Stan Lee and Jack Kirby created many of Marvel's most iconic characters in the 1960s - The Fantastic Four (1961), Spider-Man (1962), Thor (1962), Iron Man (1963), the X-Men (1963), and the Avengers (1963). Marvel characters are distinctive for their personal flaws and relatable human struggles alongside their superpowers. The MCU's culmination in 'Avengers: Infinity War' (2018) and 'Avengers: Endgame' (2019) became global cultural events, with 'Endgame' briefly becoming the highest-grossing film of all time.
