The Walt Disney Company is one of the most valuable entertainment companies in the world, founded in 1923 by Walt Disney and his brother Roy. The first Mickey Mouse cartoon with synchronized sound, "Steamboat Willie" (1928), launched Disney as a major force in animation. Disney's first animated feature film was "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" (1937) - The first full-length cel-animated feature film in motion picture history, produced against widespread industry skepticism that famously called it "Disney's Folly" before it became a massive hit.

Disney's animated features have produced some of the most beloved songs and stories in popular culture. From "Cinderella" (1950) and "Sleeping Beauty" (1959) to the Renaissance era classics "The Little Mermaid" (1989), "Beauty and the Beast" (1991), "Aladdin" (1992), and "The Lion King" (1994), Disney has defined animated storytelling. Disneyland, the world's first theme park, opened in Anaheim, California on July 17, 1955. Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida opened in 1971 and is the most visited theme park resort in the world. Disney has since acquired Pixar (2006), Marvel Entertainment (2009), and Lucasfilm/Star Wars (2012), making it one of the most dominant entertainment conglomerates ever. The company's streaming service, Disney+, launched in 2019.
