Pixar: Animation That Moves You

Pixar Animation Studios is the most critically acclaimed animation studio in history, responsible for creating some of the most beloved films of all time. Originally founded as The Graphics Group within Lucasfilm in 1979, Pixar became independent in 1986 when Steve Jobs purchased it for $5 million. Its first feature film, "Toy Story" (1995), was the first fully computer-animated feature film ever made and was a massive commercial and critical success.

Pixar's films are known for working on two levels simultaneously: entertaining children with adventurous stories while delivering deep emotional themes for adult viewers. "Up" (2009) opens with a montage depicting an entire marriage and its end - Widely considered one of the most emotionally affecting sequences in all of cinema. "Inside Out" (2015) uses neuroscience-inspired concepts to explore how emotions and memories shape personality. Pixar has won 11 Academy Awards for Best Animated Feature since that category was introduced in 2002. The studio introduced the concept of "Easter eggs" - Hidden references to other Pixar films scattered throughout each movie - Creating a connected Pixar Universe theory beloved by fans. Notable recurring elements include the Pizza Planet truck and the character A113 (a reference to the animation classroom at CalArts where many Pixar animators studied).
