You only need two things: a free DoQuizzes account and some content to turn into flashcards. That content can be:

Pasted notes - copy directly from your lecture notes, slides, or a document
A topic name - just type "The French Revolution" or "Python data types" and the AI generates cards from scratch
A textbook excerpt - copy a section from any textbook or article
A vocabulary list - paste a list of words and the AI creates definition cards

Pro tip: The more specific your input, the better the flashcards. "Photosynthesis" gives generic cards. "The light-dependent reactions of photosynthesis in plant cells" gives targeted, exam-ready cards.

Step-by-Step: Creating Your Flashcards

Sign in to your DoQuizzes account and go to the Flashcard Generator. Free accounts get 1 flashcard set per day; premium accounts get 15.
Choose how many cards you need. The default is 10. You can generate up to 30 cards per set. For a one-hour lecture, 15-20 cards covers the key concepts well.
Select a language. The AI supports 13 languages. Set it to "Auto Detect" for English, or pick a specific language to write the cards in that language - great for language learning.
Paste your content or type your topic into the text area. Up to 10,000 characters (~7 pages of text). The AI identifies the most important concepts automatically.
Click "Generate Flashcards." The AI takes 5-15 seconds to process. It returns a titled set with front (term/question) and back (definition/answer) for every card.
Study immediately with the flip-card view, or switch to grid view to scan all cards at once. Use arrow keys or buttons to navigate through your deck.

Tips for Getting Better Cards

Keep the content focused

The AI works best on focused topics. If you paste an entire textbook chapter, it will pick the most prominent concepts - which may not be the ones you need most. Break large topics into sections and generate separate sets for each.

Use card count strategically

Research on working memory suggests 10-20 cards per session is ideal for retention. If you have a lot of material, generate multiple 10-card sets rather than one massive 30-card set.

Generate cards in your target language

What the AI Actually Does

DoQuizzes uses Google's Gemini 2.0 Flash model to analyze your content. It identifies the most concept-dense sentences, extracts key terms, and formats them as concise front/back pairs. The front is kept under 120 characters. The back is 2-4 sentences - enough to understand without defeating the purpose of active recall.

Understanding the Daily Limits

Free accounts can generate 1 flashcard set per day. This resets at midnight UTC. Premium DoQuizzes members get 15 sets per day. The countdown timer on your dashboard shows exactly when your quota resets.
